Volunteering

Volunteers are an important part of OBLT and what makes us — well, US!  They are valued members of our teams and work together with our staff to ensure quality programming is provided.

Whether you wish to help with little ones in Munchkinland, drive the WOW bus, provide tech support in our TLC, be a director on our Board, or assist at one of our special events – there are opportunities to fit every schedule and interest.

Technology Learning Centre (TLC)

ongoing from September to June

Not stumped by the latest technology? Are you the “go to” techie in your group of friends and family? Like to help seniors and have a few hours to spare? If you answer YES to any of these questions, we’d love to hear from you! Our Technology Learning Centre (TLC) is seeking volunteers to do 1:1 tutoring in our Parksville classroom on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Please call 250-947-8258 for more information or to offer your help.

Do you have a passion for literacy and want to make a difference?  OBLT is looking for committed people in the community who can lend their enthusiasm to a dynamic board.  Board meetings are held monthly.  If you would like to find out more, please email admin@oblt.ca and tell us a little bit about yourself and we’ll get back to you.

WOW Bus Drivers

ongoing from October to June

No special license is required, and training is provided. The WOW bus travels with one of our Early Childhood Educators to nearby communities where children and their adult get on the parked bus for play, music, reading and much more!

Munchkinland

Parksville & Qualicum Beach

Do you enjoy seeing little ones play, laugh and sing? Does cuddling a baby fill your bucket? Then volunteering at Munchkinland may be just the right place for you! You’ll be helping our program facilitator in everything from set up, reading a story, rocking a baby, to tidy up.

Handy Helper

Are you known as a “do it your selfer” and like to fix things? We periodically have small jobs that need someone that loves to putter and occasionally do small maintenance projects. If this describes you – please call our office.

Storybook Village

Open July to August

This gem of a play area in Qualicum Beach opens children’s imagination as they explore kid-sized buildings and roadways that make up the little village. You’ll be helping our program facilitator ensure the village’s “residents” are safe and having fun!
