Our Path

Our Early Learning vision started with our local school district back in 1999 and although the first focus of Building Learning Together (BLT) was birth to kindergarten age, and their families, we soon widened our offerings to appeal to all ages and to help with the ever-changing digital world.

1999
Vision

The vision started with SD69 and community determination creating “Building Learning Together” (BLT) engagement and collaboration. Early literacy programs started with Mother Goose & Friends in late 1999-2000.

2003

WOW Bus #1

First Words on Wheels (WOW) bus was dreamed up and hit the road with early literacy outreach for young children and families.
2006
Community
Our first Munchkinland Centre was created in partnership with BLT Community Partners, local businesses, OBLT volunteers, students, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Children and Families, and School District 69. This later became one of the templates of programs that was used to design and implement BC StrongStart Centre’s.

All along the way, we have listened and observed, grown and adapted.
We have become a place to learn, find resources and support for our community. None of this could have been done without the visionary support of School District 69 and the dedication of countless community volunteers along the way.

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success”
